By Nigeria Is In Clear Danger- Donal Duke As He Declares For 2019 General Elections
With barely 8months to the next General Elections in Nigeria, former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke has declared intention to contest for the top seat at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.
Duke’s declaration is coming months after he has been tipped by several political analysts as a favourite for the job, especially as the campaign of #NotTooYoungToRun became rife.
The former Governor made the declaration at the Annual Law Dinner of University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he spoke on “Nigeria in Clear and Present Danger”. He was of the opinion that political will and strategy will position the country for greatness as he said there are the major components needed to ensure all-round national development.
He however added that although he wasn’t yet sure of the platform with which he will be contesting, he was convinced that it was time to make a move. Duke, who ruled Cross River State for 8years (1999-2007) under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party was among top politicians that agreed with former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on the Coalition for New Nigeria earlier in the year.
