It’s a new dawn for the Nigerian banking industry as top financial institution, Access Bank takes off afresh today with its acquisition of Diamond Bank.  

The new brand was unveiled yesterday at the Eko Hotel and Suites where a new logo and bank slogan were presented to the public.

The new Access Bank following its merger with Diamond Bank now has as its slogan…”more than banking” as the bank becomes the leading Nigerian financial institution with 592 branches across three continents, 12 countries and with 29 million active customers.

The new logo unveiled by Access Bank is a combination of the old bank logo and Diamond’s pebble shaped logo.

In explaining the inspiration for the new logo, Access Bank revealed… “The brand showcases the new logo and new slogan – ‘more than banking”. 

The diamond shape is fused into the three chevrons, which radiate in all directions to create layers around a core. The retention of the access typeface, colour and font is complemented by the orange logo, which draws from the colour palettes of both banks.

“The use of the diamond colour palette is further emphasised with the dominance of green in its retail application, ensuring continuity for retail customers, whilst the dominant orange in the corporate application provides the same sense of familiarity to Access Bank’s customers.

“Almost twenty years ago, Access Bank set out to change the face of banking in Nigeria. Its goal was to lift the continent of Africa through what it called sustainable banking, showing individuals and businesses across the country that ethical business was good business,” the statement further read. 

Operations begin across their different branches today April 1st, 2019 BlackBox Nigeria has learnt. The bank has also claimed that the philosophy of its founding fathers remain unchanged.
