The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced the accreditation of additional foreign schools in Niger Republic and Equatorial Guinea, broadening its scope for the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) and Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
According to a statement released by NECO’s Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, the decision followed a rigorous inspection of facilities, including classrooms, libraries, laboratories, and sports areas, to ensure their suitability for the exams.
“The Accreditation Team conducted a thorough evaluation and granted full SSCE and BECE accreditation status to these schools,” the statement read.
The newly accredited schools join other international centers in countries like Benin Republic, Togo, Côte d’Ivoire, and Saudi Arabia, highlighting NECO’s commitment to extending its assessment services beyond Nigeria.
“This milestone underscores NECO’s dedication to enhancing education and assessment standards across Africa and beyond,” Sani added.
In a related development, candidates in Diffa, Niger Republic, are currently participating in the ongoing NECO SSCE External examination at the UNHCR School, marking the first external NECO exam center outside Nigeria.
