Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested two individuals involved in separate incidents of child abduction and motorcycle theft in Keffi.
The arrests were made public on Sunday by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada.
In the first incident, a female suspect identified as Khadija Aliyu was apprehended on September 28, 2024, for allegedly abducting a seven-day-old baby girl during a naming ceremony held at a residence behind the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Keffi. According to Nansel, the suspect, who had been pretending to be pregnant, attended the ceremony and took advantage of the situation by sneaking into the house, stealing the baby, and fleeing with the child hidden under a veil. She was later arrested by the police.
In another operation, the police arrested Hussaini Mohammed, an ex-convict, on charges of motorcycle theft. Mohammed, who had recently been released from a correctional facility, was found in possession of three stolen motorcycles. The police from the Angwan Lambu Division in Keffi were responsible for the arrest and the recovery of the stolen motorcycles, which are now held as evidence.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, has urged anyone with claims to the recovered motorcycles to come forward with proof of ownership at the Angwan Lambu Police Division. He also assured the public that both suspects would face the full extent of the law and encouraged continued cooperation between citizens and law enforcement to combat crime in the state.
This arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of the Nasarawa State Police Command in tackling criminal activities, ensuring the safety of residents, and restoring stolen property to rightful owners.
