NANS President Appoints 39 Aides Days After Assuming Office

The National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Akintoye Babatunde Afeez (GCNS), has announced the appointment of a 39-member national leadership team aimed at strengthening the association’s operations and advancing the interests of Nigerian students nationwide.

The appointments, contained in an official letter dated June 6, 2026, were made under the powers vested in the NANS President and cover key strategic positions, including Chief of Staff, Principal Private Secretary, Chief Press Secretary, Directors, Heads of Departments, and Special Advisers.

Among the notable appointments are Comrade Adegoke Naheem Ademola as Chief of Staff, Comrade Alo Alex as Principal Private Secretary, and Geo. Ogunjimi Tolulope James as Chief Press Secretary. Other appointees include Olusesi Tolulope Samson as Deputy Chief of Staff, Comrade Adejorin Tai Manuel as Director of Students Empowerment, and Comrade Saleeman Yusuf Issah (ACA, AAT) as Director of Strategy and Programs.

The newly constituted team also features directors overseeing critical sectors such as welfare and logistics, digital media, entrepreneurship, health, political affairs, civic engagement, environmental sustainability, entertainment, university affairs, campus security, and hostel accommodation.

According to the NANS President, the appointments are part of efforts to build a dynamic leadership structure capable of addressing the challenges facing students and delivering on the association’s mandate.

“I have full confidence in each of you to deliver effectively in your respective responsibilities,” Akintoye stated in the appointment letter.

He charged the appointees to remain committed to excellence, teamwork, and the overall advancement of Nigerian students across the country.

The appointments take immediate effect and are expected to strengthen NANS’ engagement with educational institutions, government agencies, and other stakeholders while promoting student welfare, advocacy, and development initiatives.

The announcement has generated interest within the student community, with many viewing the new leadership team as a strategic move to enhance the association’s effectiveness and national reach.
