Over N900m Was Used For Late Emir’s Burial, N37m Paid For Call Cards- Emir Sanusi Opens Kano Emirate Council Accounts

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II has opened the accounts of Kano Emirate Council following calls from some quarters for the probe of the traditional ruler.

The disclosure was made via the verified social media account of the ruler of Kano State.

In the statement, it was revealed that the Council spent over N981m for the burial of the last Emir.

The former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, who is the 14th Emir of Kano stated that he was ready for probe.

He said, “I am ready for probe. Kano Emirate Council had over N2.8 billion in fixed accounts, out of which over N981m was used for the burial of late Emir Ado Bayero.

“About N1.8bn was the amount of money inherited by me against the alleged N4bn. Payment of N37,054,192.06 to Airtel, for one LOC mobile phone, which I use within and outside the country.”

The Emir also disclosed that against the belief of some quarters that the Council purchased Rolls Royce cars for him, he said there were gifts from his friends and the Council only purchased two bulletproof vehicles for him on the advise of the State Government. The vehicles were worth N142,800,000.
