Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has dismissed any suggestion of returning to the state’s seat of power, saying he has emotionally and mentally detached from Government House.
In a widely circulated video on social media that has sparked political ripples across the state, Fubara said:
“Do you think I am even interested in going back there? Don’t you see how better I look? I don’t wish to go back there. My spirit left there long ago…”
Reports showed that Fubara has earlier met with Tinubu, Wike and other APC Stalwart in a bid to resolve the ongoing crisis in the state which led to his suspension.
However, this recent statement comes with a sign of surprise from many as a sign of weakness from the suspended governor.
Fubara’s remarks are the clearest indication yet that he has accepted his suspension as final, signaling a deepening rift between him and the political establishment in Rivers State.
His statement also underscores the possibility of a total disengagement from the state’s executive role, even as legal and political battles over his suspension persist.
Fubara’s public disengagement could further complicate negotiations or reconciliation efforts led by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or federal mediators.
