Mourinho And Carrick Become Oldest Manager And Player To Lift Europa Trophy

Jose Mourinho’s first season at Manchester United has seen him set the record as the oldest Manager to life the Europa trophy just as Michael Carrick also made the mark as the oldest player to win same trophy at 35 years.

It will be recalled that Mourinho started his winning ways at the beginning of the season when his side played newly crowned Champion, Leicester City in a 3goal thriller which saw them lifting the Community Shield.

Despite having an awful campaign at the English Premier League, the Manchester Red side played against all Odds to reach the Final of the League Cup and thrashed Southampton to lift it.

The Cup automatically qualified Manchester United for Europa in next season irrespective of the position they finish the season on the table.

But it’s eventual winning of this season’s Europa trophy has registered their side for the Group Stage of the UEFA Champions League in which will kick off later in the year.
