Egyptian striker Mohamed Salah proved to be the hero for Liverpool as he scored the decisive goal to secure a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.

The win propelled Liverpool to the top of the Premier League table, ahead of Manchester City’s highly anticipated clash with Arsenal on Sunday.

Salah’s sublime second-half strike was the difference-maker in a closely contested match, leaving Liverpool with 67 points, three ahead of second-placed Arsenal and four ahead of reigning champions Manchester City.

The match got off to a dramatic start when former Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck stunned the home crowd by giving Brighton the lead just 84 seconds into the game. Welbeck capitalized on a swift counterattack, receiving the ball inside the box before unleashing a powerful shot past Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher.

However, Liverpool quickly responded to the early setback, with Luis Díaz restoring parity in the 27th minute. A miscued clearance from Brighton’s Joël Veltman presented an opportunity for Díaz, who capitalized on the defensive error to slot the ball into the net and level the scores.

The momentum swung in Liverpool’s favor in the second half, with Salah leading the charge as he relentlessly peppered the Brighton goal with 12 shots, the highest total he has recorded in a Premier League game.

With the win, Liverpool reaffirmed their status as genuine contenders for the Premier League title, seizing the top spot ahead of Manchester City’s pivotal clash with Arsenal.
