Meet Umaru Bago Mohammed, The Man Bent On Denying Femi Gbajabiamila Speakership of 9th National Assembly

Many may not have heard about Hon Umaru Bago Mohammed before now but he is the brick wall standing between Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila and his speakership of the 9th House of Representative.

And he did not just appear on the way, he has been around since the days of Congress for Progressive Change, a political party founded in Nigeria in 2009 in preparation for the April 2011 elections after President Muhammadu Buhari parted ways with his All Nigeria Peoples Party.

It was through CPC that Hon. Bago gained access to the House of Representative in 2011 to represent Chanchaga Federal Constituency In Niger State and followed president Muhammadu Buhari to the APC merger in 2014 where he subsequently secured a second term in the House in 2015, only to repeat the feat in 2019. Many who are close to him referred to him as Mr. Relatable.

Hon Umaru Bago Mohammed was born in 1974. An indigene of Niger State who obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Usman Danfodio University Sokoto.

Prior to becoming a member of the House of Representatives, he was a Bank Manager at Afribank PLC. He later got elected into the House of Representative from 2011 to 2015. In the 2015 elections, he again re-contested for the Federal House of representative under the Platform of the All Progressive Congress(APC) and Won to represent Chanchaga Federal Constituency.

He has his Legislative Interests in Education, Marine, Defense, Aviation, Army, Appropriation and Finance. He Targets to Serve Nigeria.

He was re-elected at the just concluded 2019 elections for the third time at the National Assembly.
