Adebanjo Oluolamide has emerged as the overall best graduating student of Lagos State University for the 2025/2026 academic session, finishing his Aerospace Engineering degree with an outstanding 4.97 CGPA out of 5.00.
Oluolamide was announced as the best graduating student as LASU prepares for its combined 29th and 30th convocation ceremonies, scheduled to hold from August 14 to 23, 2026.
Celebrating the achievement on X, Oluolamide attributed his academic success to God’s grace, wisdom and strength.
“4.97 / 5.00 CGPA. First Class Honours in Aerospace Engineering at Lagos State University. Official Senate Approval.
“All glory to God for His grace, wisdom, and strength every step of the way. What God cannot do does not exist!” he wrote.
The achievement crowns an undergraduate journey marked by academic research and extracurricular activities.
On August 9, Oluolamide revealed that he had been named Scholar of the Year at the AESA-LASU Dinner, describing it as his second Scholar of the Year award during his undergraduate studies.
He wrote, “June 24: Officially signed out of Aerospace Engineering. June 25: Awarded Scholar of the Year at the AESA-LASU Dinner!
“Winning my 2nd Scholar of the Year title during my undergrad is the best way to close a chapter. Late nights, heavy research, and relentless focus paid off.”
Oluolamide has also distinguished himself through research, with two of his papers accepted for presentation at the Society of Petroleum Engineers’ NAICE 2026 conference in Lagos.
In July, he appealed for financial support to enable him to attend the conference and present his research, saying he needed ₦200,000 for the opportunity.
His 4.97 CGPA places him at the top of the 2025/2026 graduating class and makes him one of the standout scholars in LASU’s upcoming convocation.
LASU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, said the university would graduate more than 20,000 students across the two academic sessions, including 494 first-class graduates.
The combined convocation ceremonies will run from August 14 to 23.
