Marginalisation: Ndigbo Calls For Sack Of Customs Boss Over Appointment

A social cultural group, Ndigbo Bu Otu Union has called for the removal of the Comptroller General of Customs, Colonel Hammed Ali (rtd) as it accuses him of marginalizing some ethnic groups and lack of inclusive governance.

The group also accused Ali over what it described as gross incompetence and negligence of duty.

The group’s position is contained in a press statement signed by the group’s resident-general, Igwekala Ugomaduefula, and made available to Leadership Newspaper in Abuja.

It stated that the deliberate steps being taken by the current Comptroller-General, Hameed Ali has rubbished both the “federal character guidelines and firmly shut out the South-East geopolitical zone officers from key positions of the agency.”

According to statement, “the Deputy Comptroller General of Customs, DCG Ukaigwe who retired since October last year has up till today not been replaced and the South-East lacks an occupant for that slot due to the zone.”
