Magu Survives Assassination Attempt As Aide Got Killed

The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mallam Mustapha Ibrahim Magu escaped being killed on Tuesday night as unknown gunmen invaded his residence in Abuja.

A reliable source in the nation’s capital disclosed that Magu’s uncompleted bungalow house located in Karshi area of the Federal Capital Territory was invaded by the fierce gunmen who later killed one of the Police officer on duty at the residence. The invasion however led to a gun battle between the gunmen and other security officials who were securing the anti corruption agency boss.

BBN gathered that the fresh attack is coming barely 24-hours after Magu declared that the fight against corruption was a ‘do-or-die’ affair for all against corruption.

Speaking on Monday, December 11th, after a walk to mark the anti-corruption Day, Magu had stated that for himself and the anti graft agency operatives the fight against corruption was a do or die affair as they will continue with the scourge or die trying.

For those of us on this side; in the anti-corruption agencies of government, in the media, and civil society, the dagger is drawn and I believe I am speaking the mind of everyone on this side that we intend to neither retreat nor surrender in our noble intention to cure our country of the evils of corruption,” Magu said on Monday.

“For us as a country, the fight against corruption is a ‘do or die’ affair; we have to win the battle or die trying.”

No other casualties on the side of the security officials as at the time of filing this report.
