It appears the Nigerian polity is getting heated up as the 2023 general polls draw closer, judging by the wave of declaration of ambition by presidential hopefuls in the last 24 hours.
The governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, on Tuesday, announced that he will be joining the race for the nation’s top seat.
Umahi, who joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) last year, disclosed this to State House correspondents after a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Villa.
This comes barely 24 hours after the National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinunbu, in a similar fashion, declared that he was running for president in 2023.
The former Lagos governor, to the delight of his loyalists and supporters, broke his silence about his rumoured presidential ambition, bringing an end to months of speculations about his intention to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.
