LIGHT UP LAGOS AND THE DARKNESS PERVADING OUR SOCIETY
Despite huge budgetary provisions for its maintenance and sustenance, the Lagos Light Up Project is plagued by poor service delivery on Obafemi Awolowo Road, Ota-Ona to Itamaga in Ikorodu, Lagos.
At the time of its flag off, the light up project was hailed by Ikorodu people especially residents of Ota-Ona, Grammar School, Erunwen, Radio to Itamaga as a good concept and was expected to be a continuation and improvement where the lights are supposed to work uninterruptedly from night until morning.

Now, Because of poor service of the street lights, Obafemi Awolowo Road (From Ota-Ona to Itamaga) has turned to Thieves’ Den.
Workers going to work in the early hours of the day are being robbed while the females are raped.
Shops are being burgled; Thieves now take their time to remove side mirrors, stereos, batteries and car light parked in front of owner’s houses with ease.
Rumour also had it that the diesel that is meant to power the Street light generator is being sold and diverted for private and selfish reasons.
What is the essence of the street lights without efficient power supply?
The process is not well organized and well planned, it needs to be looked into.
