A member of the House of Representatives, Shina Peller has failed to secure the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to represent Oyo North Senatorial District.
Peller, who currently represents Iseyin/Iwajowa/Kajola/ Itesiwaju Federal Constituency in the lower chamber, lost the APC ticket to the incumbent, Senator Fatai Buhari at the primary which took place on Saturday.
Buhari scored 570 votes to defeat Peller who managed to secure only five votes, dealing a huge blow to the latter whose stint in the House ends next year.
Peller’s defeat comes after hours he raised alarm over the alleged imposition of an anointed candidate by a serving Senator, citing the sudden change in the venue for the primaries without the consent of other aspirants.
It would be recalled that the 46-year-old politician had rejected calls by young Nigerians to join the 2023 presidential race. Instead, he declared his senatorial bid.
