The remains of slain student activist and former student of the Lagos State University, Nurudeen Alowonle, aka Omomewa, on Friday, was buried at the Atan cemetery in Lagos.

Recall BlackBox Nigeria reported that he was killed at the LASU school gate in August, hours after facing a disciplinary panel set up by the school management over pending allegations of his involvement in admission racketeering.

According to The PUNCH, the cause of his death is yet to be revealed as results from the investigations of the police differs from the account given by a staff member of the institution, Mr. Waheed Majekodunmi (Majek) who fled the scene of the event after he was also attacked.

It was gathered that the police claimed the student activist was stabbed, which counters Majek’s account that he was shot.

Alowonle, until his death, was the Lagos State Coordinator of a civil rights group, Education Rights Campaign (ERC).
