LASUGATE: Management removes Olumoko as Students Affairs Dean, appoints Abatan

The management of the Lagos State University has appointed Dr. Abiodun Fatai Abatan, a senior lecturer of the department of political science as the Acting Dean of Students Affairs, BlackBox Nigeria has learned.

The Ikorodu-born lecturer was, until his appointment, the Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences. He replaces Dr. Tajudeen Olumoko with immediate replacement.

Fatai-Abatan’s appointment in the wake of serious allegations of extortion and certificate racketeering leveled against the institution.

According to a report by Sahara Reporters, the erstwhile Dean of Students Affairs, Olumoko was named as one of the members of the syndicate who reportedly wrote confessional statements to Department of State Services (DSS) following a sting operation.

But in a statement issued through the Coordinator, Centre for Information and Public Relations, Lagos State University, Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile, the LASU management insisted that it has brought the original allegations to the attention of general law enforcement authorities including the office of the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions as investigations are still ongoing.

The Lagos State House of Assembly has also resolved to investigate the matter.
