LASUCOM Emerges Best College Of Medicine In Nigeria

 

The Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM) has been ranked the best College of Medicine in Nigeria, according to the latest AD Scientific Index Ranking.

AD Scientific Index, a Turkey-based leading global ranking body, recently released the list of its 2021 world scientist and university rankings.

In the ranking of top 50 universities in Nigeria in terms of quality of scientists, LASUCOM ranks 15th best in Nigeria. In actual fact, LASUCOM was the only College of Medicine ranked in the 50 institutions ranked by the leading global ranking body.

LASU was ranked 13th in Nigeria and second best state University, trailing behind Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) which holds the top spot.

The University of Ibadan (UI), University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) emerged as the best varsities in Nigeria

According to the list, UI ranked 19 in Africa and 1,350 in the world while UNN occupied the 25th spot in the continent and 1,522 globally.

UNILORIN was also ranked 41 in Africa and 1,941 in the world. The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) came fourth while the University of Calabar (UNICAL) was named the fifth-best varsity in Nigeria on the ranking.

AD Scientific Index said the ranking “reveals the competency of institutions to attract prized scientists and the ability of institutions to encourage advances and retain scientists.”

Harvard University made the top spot on the list globally while the University of Cape Town was ranked the best institution in Africa.
