LASU lecturer Dr GAB, SUBEB’s Falana win education category at second Lagos Youth Awards

Lagos State University lecturer, Ganiu Abisoye Bamgbose (PhD), popularly known as Dr GAB, and Owolabi Jamiu Falana, Board Member, Lagos SUBEB won the education category at the second edition of the Lagos Youth Awards held on Friday, December 23, 2022.

While Dr GAB was named the ‘Most Outstanding Young Academic’, Falana won the ‘Most Outstanding Young Person in Education’ award.

The two winners were presented with their plaques at the well-attended event held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in the Ikeja area of Lagos.

Dr GAB, a Nigerian academic and researcher is currently a lecturer in the department of English at LASU as well as a part-time English and Applied Linguistics lecturer at Pan Atlantic University.

He has published in both local and international journals including a grammar book titled, “Aspects of Language and Communication.” Most of his write-ups can be found on Business Day and The Nigerian Voice.

On the other hand, Falana is a public servant, international economist and public policy strategist. He is the youngest-ever member of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board.

He is also the Chief Executive Officer of the Ohjay Natsiya Group, a company that focuses on construction, general contracts and supplies.

The education category featured other nominees such as Olakunle Sanni (School in the Street) and Samantha Lazarus (Grammar Coach).

Meanwhile, this edition of the Lagos Youth Award tagged “The Disruptors” honoured no fewer than 20 outstanding young persons drawn from different fields such as law, journalism, fashion, broadcasting, agriculture, technology and sports, among others.
