LASU Kicks Start 21st Convocation Ceremony

The management of the Lagos State University today kick started programme of activities of the 21st Convocation Ceremony, set to convocate a total of 36,489 students, the highest number for a long time.

This was disclosed by the Vice Chancellor,Prof Lanre fagbohun at the press briefing held at the Conference Hall, 3-in-1 Building, Faculty of Education, Main Campus, Ojo.

Prof Fagbohun congratulated both members of the Academic and Non-Academic Staff and the students as the institution maintains its position as the Best State University in the country in the latest ranking by the Nigeria Universities Commission.

Prof Fagbohun who was present with his members of the Management Board declared that the 21st Convocation will be kicked off properly with a Jumat Service at the LASU Central MOsque on Friday, March 17 and followed with a Church Service at LASU Chapel on Sunday, March 19th.

He announced that the institution will be graduating a total of 36,489 students. This number comprises of Diploma, First and Higher Degrees graduates.

The School Management under the leadership of Prof Fagbohun also recorded a major feat as it announced that all the graduands can pick up their certificates a day after the ceremony. He noted that the only reason the certificates will not be shared on the convocation ceremony day was to safeguard the valued certificates from loss.

Another feat recorded was a major clearing of backlogs of LASU External System students who were also graduating with the 21st set, a situation that jacked up the total number of graduands.

Also present at the briefing were deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof A. O. K Noah, the Registrar, Mr Oladapo Lewis, the Librarian and the school’s bursar, Deans of Faculties, Heads of Directorate, representatives of the LASU Students Union and members of the press.

In his conclusion, the smart-working VC appreciated and invited all the immediate members of the LASU Community to its Coconut Breaking Festival on Monday, Monday 20th. The Festival is a programme that formally set the convocation ceremony open.
