In a remarkable display of commitment to fostering sports and recreational activities, the Lagos State University (LASU) Management has taken a significant step by sponsoring four talented students to participate in the highly anticipated World University Games (FISU) in Chengdu, China.
This initiative aligns seamlessly with the university’s strategic goals under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola OLATUNJI-BELLO, mni, NPOM.
Scheduled to take place from Tuesday, 25th July to Thursday, 10th August 2023, the World University Games is a platform that promises to showcase the exceptional athletic prowess of university students from across the globe.
LASU’s representation at this prestigious event will undoubtedly highlight the dedication and hard work that these young athletes have put into their respective disciplines.
The four LASU students selected to compete on the international stage are Aminat Oluwafunke ILORI, Oluwasegun Obasanjo IDOWU, Simeon Abiodun AKINSOLA, and Oluwatosin IHAZA.
They will be competing in the sports of Badminton and Judo, exemplifying the diverse talents that flourish within the university’s vibrant community.
The journey to the World University Games has commenced under the guidance of Mr. Owoyemi IDOWU, the Deputy Director of Sports at LASU.
The team’s first stop is Abuja, Nigeria, where they will prepare to embark on their international voyage.
The entire LASU community stands united in support of these athletes, eagerly anticipating their triumphant performances in China.
As the athletes set out to represent LASU and Nigeria on the global stage, the university community extends its heartfelt well-wishes and encouragement.
