LASPOTECH Staff Alleges Victimization By Rector, Samuel Oluyinka Sogunro Over Strike
Despite the resolution reached with the Staff Unions of the Lagos State Polytechnic by Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Idiat Oluranti Adebule that no staff who participated in the CONTISS 15 Migration struggle would be victimized, the Rector of the state owned polytechnic, Samuel Oluyinka Sogunro, seems to be on payback campaign to cripple the wings of his opponents in the institution.
Members of staff who spoke to BlackBox Nigeria on the conditions of anonymity said that it was agreed at the meeting with the Deputy Governor that, “all issues of victimization of staff on this CONTISS 15 Migration struggle should cease with immediate effect,” but this did not come to pass as the Rector has been using trumped up charges to demote staffs that participated in the struggles.
This development BBN360 gathered has been causing uproar within the institute and may serve as another reason to shutdown the institute of learning if government fails to take appropriate actions.
Following the hearing of the case instituted by Lagos State Government at National Industrial Court in Ikoyi on August 15th, 2017, which directed the Staff Unions to suspend the strike action embarked upon on August 1st, 2017, the Rector Sogunro who is perceived in some quarters not to have the required qualifications to be a Rector has been demoting staffs abysmally.
