laspotech shines at cotach , beats 30 tertiary institutions and 20 taekwondo clubs all over west Africa

Lagos State Polytechnic has emerged third at the just concluded fifth Collegiate Taekwondo Championship (COTACH) held at the indoor Basketball Court, PHE Building, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State.

The competition, which was titled “Ultimate Gladiator, Victor Ludorum” featured 221 athletes from 30 tertiary institutions as well as 20 Taekwondo training club from all over West Africa.

The Chairman, Sports and Games Committee of the Polytechnic, Mr. Makanju Adeleye informed that the Team won a total of 2 Gold, 7 Silver and 3 Bronze Medals to emerge 3rd Position. He informed that the team is working towards maintaining its championship at the 2017 Nigerian Polytechnic Games (NIPOGA) held in Nasarawa State, where the Polytechnic emerged overall 1st.

The Dean, Students’ Affairs, Dr. Yakub Bankole in his address informed that all the participants are all bonafide students of the Polytechnic. He further intimated that the participation in the competition is geared towards preparing the Team for the optimum performance at the forthcoming NIPOGA as the Polytechnic is determined to win the overall 1st Position once again.

The Rector, Mr. Samuel O. Sogunro commended the athletes for recording another history in amongst all Tertiary Institutions in West Africa. While congratulating the athletes, he promised that they will surely be remunerated in appreciation of their excellent performance.

Sogunro apprised that the Polytechnic Management will continue to give support to the entire sports team on supply of needed kits and adequate training in order to ensure that Lagos State Polytechnic retains its championship (back-to-back) title at the forthcoming NIPOGA.
