By Lagos State Man Of The Year! CPDPS Nominates LASU VC For Coveted Award
The dedication and smart hardwork of Professor Olanrewaju Adigun Fagbohun has been recognised by the Centre for Policy Development and Political Studies (CPDPS). He has been nominated for this year’s Lagos State Man of The Year.
Since he was appointed as the Vice Chancellor by Governor Akinwunmi Oladapo Ambode, Prof Fagbohun has initiated several face lifting policies and projects that have re-positioned the Citadel of Learning in the Commity of Universities in the country.
Reacting to this development, Mr Jeariogbe Olaniyi Sam, an officer of the Centre for Informatioan, Press and Public Relation revealed that the nomination is indeed coming at a time he referred to as ‘rewarding.’ He also disclosed that he was happy to see the nomination as he patiently awaits the eventual result of the poll by the public.
The Lagos State Man of the Year Award (LASMAYA) is conceptualised and organised by the CPDPS?
His achievements since he held-sway at the foremost State varsity has benefited both staff and students as “carrying along all stakeholders of the university” has been part of his key phrase. Some of them include revitalisation of a number of the institution’s programmes; clearance of backlog of outstanding results of LASU External Systems (part time Students); procurement and installation of ICT equipment & facility and also creation of LASU Integrated Data Centre; establishment and commencement of LASU International School; organisation of different capacity building programmes for teaching and non-teaching staff; organisation of various activities aimed at reducing negative social vices among students; presentation of several Inaugural Lectures to deepen intellectual discourse; collaboration with the United Nations Information Centre for esatblishment of a UN Corner in the University Library and also an integration of LASU Academics within the UN Academic mpact project; among other projects.
Mr Jeariogbe stated that Professor Fagbohun’s nomination was made known in Monday, August 14th, 2017 publication of The Punch Newspaper. He said the voting exercise has since begun and expected to close on Sunday, August 20th. He advised all well wishers to send ‘Award Prof. Olanrewaju A.
