The Lagos State House of Assembly has confirmed the second batch of nominees put forth by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The confirmation process took place on Thursday, with Speaker Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa presiding over the proceedings.
The confirmation was carried out through a voice vote, and the lawmakers unanimously approved the majority of the nominees.
However, they rejected two nominees and placed one name on hold for further consideration.
Hon. Fatai Mojeed, who led the committee responsible for reviewing the nominees, received a commendation from Speaker Obasa for their diligent work.
Following the confirmation, the clerk, Olalekan Onafeko, was instructed to send the list of approved nominees to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Governor Sanwo-Olu had initially submitted the names of 18 nominees to the Assembly on Monday, and after the confirmation process, the following individuals were affirmed:
- Dr. Afolabi Abiodun Tajudeen
- Mr. Oluwaseun Oriyomi Osiyemi
- Prof. Akinola Emmanuel Abayomi
- Dr. Oluwarotimi Omotola Wahab Fashola
- Mrs. Folashade Kaosarat Ambrose-Medem
- Mr. Akinyemi Bankole Ajigbotafe
- Mrs. Bolaji Cecelia Dada
- Mrs. Barakat Akande Bakare
- Mr. Olugbenga Omotoso
- Mr. Mosopefolu George
- Dr. Olumide Oluyinka
- Mr. Abayomi Samson Oluyomi
- Dr. Iyabode Oyeyemi Ayoola
- Hon. Sola Shakirudeen Giwa
- Dr. Yekini Nurudeen Agbaje
However, two individuals faced rejection by the Assembly, namely Engr. Olalere Odusote (Former Commissioner for Energy) and Sam Egube (Former Commissioner for Budget). Hon. Tolani Sule Akibu’s confirmation is temporarily on hold.
In response to these developments, the Lagos State House of Assembly adjourned its proceedings to reconvene on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.
