The Mushin Local Government Education Authority has organised and launched the annual Owolabi Falana Quiz Competition.

The LGEA launched this Competition, which was led by the Education Secretary, Princess Akinlude, on Tuesday, December 6, 2022.

This was revealed by Mr. Owolabi Falana, through his Facebook page on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.

He wrote, “Yesterday, 6th December 2022, we launched the annual Owolabi Falana Quiz Competition which was hosted by the Mushin Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) led by Princess Akinlude – the Education Secretary.

“As one of the best pupil in Social Studies during my days in primary school and in commemoration of the feat achieved over twenty years ago, the LGEA organized a competition tagged Hon. OJ Falana Quiz Competition (Social Studies and Civic Education) in my honour.

“The LGEA in their wisdom named this annual award ceremony after me to further encourage reading culture amongst the students, as well as to provide a solid foundation for civic engagement amongst the children of Mushin.

“In my address, I told the pupils that after leaving the primary school, I was not only one of the best students at AUD Model College, but also graduated with first class honours, at the university in Ukraine.

“I also informed the gathering that while in the corporate world, I never had to lobby for job opportunities; I was head-hunted to lead various organizations, and now in the public sector as a Permanent Board member in SUBEB all within 20 years. With these feats; I told the kids that there is no limitation to how far a Mushin child can go in life!

“In addition, I advised the parents to prioritise the education of their wards, just like my father, Mr. Olajide Falana did. This immense parental sacrifice has engendered the accomplishments we are celebrating today.”

He therefore thanked the Mushin LGEA.
