Lagos Floods: Houses Will Be Demolished- Environmental Commissioner, Adejare

Mr Babatunde Adejare, the Lagos State Commissioner of Environment has disclosed that some houses will be demolished in order to correct faulty channels that caused the recent flooding in Lagos State.

Mr Adejare made this known as he was addressing the press at Lekki area of Lagos where the flood took an embarrassing turn over the weekend.

Ikoyi, Victoria Island and Lekki areas all suffered flooding during the weekend due to the increase in rainfall in those areas.

Mr Adejare stated that the State Government was concluding plans to mark out houses that were built on water ways which is causing the water to hold back and holding the residents to ransom.

He said on completion of the research, houses found on water channels will be demolished as the State will not allow mistakes caused by some individuals cause harm to other residents of the State.
