By Kwara Police Commissioner Arrests SARS Officers Who Sexually Harassed Lady
The Kwara State Police Commissioner, Mr Sam Okaula has confirmed the arrest of some operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad for subjecting a lady to sexual assault in Ilorin. Their arrest is coming days after the victim, a lady (name undisclosed) took to the social media to recount on her ordeal.
BlackBox Nigeria gathered that the yet to be named officers stopped the lady as she was going to get herself dinner, after searching her phone and not being able to get something incriminating, the officers reportedly started ‘searching’ all over her body for ‘drugs’.
The heartbroken victim took to the social media and tagged severally personalities who in turn tagged Police Zonal Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmus. The matter was then reported to the Police Complaint Response Unit (PCRU), the Unit which investigates impunity of serving officers.
In the course of investigation, the State Commissioner of Police was alerted who then looked into the matter and took the officers into custody. BBN gathered that the officers before now were well known to be in the business of harassing residents and commuters in the neighbourhood.
The Unit also revealed that the complainant (victim) has been briefed about the arrest of the operatives.
