Kosofe LG deputy chair emerges Oworo monarch

Prince Babatunde Saliu has been installed as the Oloworo of Oworonshoki Kingdom in the Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos.

Saliu is the immediate past Vice Chairman of Kosofe LGA, and also served as a Senior Special Assistant to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Land Matters.

On Wednesday, the new monarch, accompanied by traditional chiefs, was presented with his staff of office and letter of appointment by the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

The presentation took place at the office of the deputy governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.

It would be recalled that there has been a tussle over the vacant Oloworo of Oworonshoki royal stool after Oba Bashiru Oloruntoyin Saliu joined his ancestors on August 30, 2021.

The deceased monarch, who spent 25 years on throne before his demise, was said to have requested that his son, Prince Babatunde Saliu be installed as the next Oloworo of Oworonshoki Kingdom, a wish that stakeholders and traditional leaders of the community appears to have respected.
