Legal representatives from various parties, including the Complainant, AWLA, the DPP, NBA Ikorodu Branch, and the entertainment community, were present at the inquest.

An investigator from the State CID Panti, Mohammed Yusuf, also made an appearance.

The Magistrate, OLUDAYO SHOTUNBI, led the proceedings on behalf of the Chief Coroner of Lagos State, DADA.

The Magistrate emphasized that the inquest’s purpose was fact-finding, and it was not bound by the Evidence Act, encouraging all present to speak and ask questions.

Mrs. Falana requested a short adjournment to obtain the written deposition of the deceased’s father, who is the core complainant.

ASP Mohammed Yusuf from the homicide section of the Lagos State Police Command summarized his investigation, stating that it was inconclusive.

He mentioned that the deceased’s father, the Nurse, Naira Marley, and Sam Larry had been invited and their statements recorded in the presence of their lawyers.

Naira Marley, Sam Larry, and the Nurse had been detained for further investigation.

His Honor mentioned that Naira Marley, Sam Larry, and the Nurse were detained for further investigation.

ASP Yusuf, added that, according to the deceased’s driver’s testimony, the deceased arrived at the show with his wife, 5-month-old baby, and his P.A. (Ibrahim) in an SUV around 9:30 pm on Sunday.

After the performance, they attempted to leave, but the venue was blocked by touts demanding money from the deceased.

The deceased’s P.A. recommended staying in the vehicle until the crowd dispersed, but the deceased declined and exited the vehicle.

He punched his P.A. twice, and the third blow damaged the side mirror of his car, injuring his hand. This led the P.A. to leave the scene.

Upon returning home, the driver was instructed to have the vehicle’s side mirror repaired, and Prime boy contacted a nurse to treat the wound on the deceased’s hand.

The nurse mentioned that she administered an antitetanus injection, paracetamol, and tetrazone oxide to the deceased.

However, he started vomiting, and while she went to get additional medicine to counter the effects, she was informed that the deceased was experiencing convulsions.

He mentioned issues with CCTV footage and medication remnants.

He also stated that the deceased had withdrawn a previous assault case.

Additionally, immigration records showed that Sam Larry and Naira Marley were outside Nigeria when the deceased passed away.

His Honor concluded by stating that they were still awaiting the results of the autopsy report.

The inquest was adjourned to Wednesday, October 25, 2023, for further inquiry, where the complainants and witnesses will be invited to assist in fact-finding.
