Nigerian media personality and politician, Adedayo Olumide Adeneye popularly known as Dayo D1 has been thrown into mourning following the death of his mother.

Dayo D1, a former Ogun State commissioner and co-founder of the popular record label Kennis Music, confirmed the tragic news in an Instagram post on Friday, sharing a picture of him with his deceased mum to bid her farewell.

“Good night my Sweet Mother. Iya Kayode (Mama D1) has gone to rest and be with her maker. You Lived a Great Life and we your children are all the Better for it.

“Thank you Mum. Gbo gbo wa la ma gbeyin arugbo wa,” he wrote.

While Dayo D1 did not state the cause of his mother’s death in the post, a previous post from him last month indicates that his mother had been ill and bedridden in the United Kingdom.

Friends and colleagues have turned to the comment section to express their condolences to the bereaved, including Nollywood actress Chioma Akpota who wrote, “My prayers are with you.”
