Kano Government Bans Tricycles on Major Roads

The Kano State Government, under the aegis of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has banned tricycle riders from operating on major roads within Kano metropolis.

Through the Kano Road Traffic Agency, banned tricycle riders from operating on major roads within Kano metropolis from Wednesday, November 30, 2022.

In a statement by the Public Relations Officer of KAROTA, Nabilusi Na’isa, the government took the action after providing 100 ultra-modern buses and 50 taxis that would be conveying passengers on the roads, as action would be taken starting from Wednesday, November 30, 2022.

According to him, the Adaidaita Sahu drivers (tricycle operators) are prohibited from following Ahmadu Bello Way by Mundubawa road to Gazawa and Tal’udu road to Gwarzo.

Ganduje, the governor of the state, also stated that its administration provided the buses in order to enhance transportation in the state as well as to make it easier for people to follow these routes.

In his words, he said the government will also announce when tricycle operators will stop using other major roads in the state once it provides more ultra-modern buses and taxis to ease traffic congestion in Kano city.
