The Kaduna State Government has disclosed that the death toll from the bandit attacks on communities in the state over the weekend has risen to 40.
The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan confirmed the development on Monday.
According to him, two more bodies were recovered following Saturday’s attacks on Giwa Local Government Area.
Aruwan stated that the recovery of the bodies increased the death toll to 40, adding that “security agencies carrying out search operations in the area reported the discovery of the two additional bodies.”
The attacks occurred at Kauran Fawa, Marke and Riheya villages in Idasu, Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna which 38 victims were initially reported on Sunday.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari had condemned the killings in Kaduna State over the week, vowing to crush the activities of the bandits.
