The Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KADSIECOM) has postponed the local government elections scheduled to hold Saturday 4th September to 25th September in four of the 23 local government areas of the state.

This, however, does not affect the elections to be held on Saturday, in the remaining 19 LGAs.

Dr. Saratu Binta Dikko-Audu, Chairman of the Commission, via a statement on Friday, said that the decision was informed by the security report.

Dr. Dikko-Audu explained that the security operatives would be fully deployed to the affected local government areas on the scheduled date. This is to prevent any breakdown of law and order as well as loss of lives and property. The affected LGAs are Birnin Gwari, Chikun, Kajuru and Zangon Kataf.

He also implored the politicians and citizens saying, “May l once more plead with both politicians and citizens of Kaduna State to conduct themselves in a manner that will ensure a peaceful election. KADSIECOM on its part is committed to conducting an election that is free, fair, credible and non-violent.”
