Omotunde Afolabi of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), who won the councillorship seat in Ward D in Orile-Agege LCDA, has joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Afolabi was, on Tuesday, presented with his Certificate of Return, at the LASIEC headquarters in Sabo, Yaba.
It was gathered that Afolabi announced his defection on the floor of the house, on Wednesday. Though BlackBox Nigeria cannot independently state the reason for this action, many say it was largely politically motivated.
This development means that the APC has secured 376 out of 377 councilorship seats spread across 20 LGs and 37 LCDAs in Lagos State.
Adeshola Thomas of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who won Ward G in Yaba LCDA, is the only councillor in the state belonging to the opposition.
Recall BlackBox Nigeria reported that the APC won all the chairmanship seats in all the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state, following the official results of the just-concluded local government polls.
