Chaos erupted in the Ojodu area of Lagos on Tuesday afternoon after a truck overran some students of Babs Fafunwa Millenium School, crushing some of them to death and leaving others injured.

The accident was said to have happened along Isheri Road, a stone’s throw from the Ojodu Police Station.

Report has it that about 13 students have been confirmed dead, though the actual casualty figure is yet to ascertained. The driver of the truck is said to be at large, as at time of filing this report.

Our correspondent gathered that a number of the injured students have been taken to the nearest hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, what followed the tragic incident is a violent reaction from students of the school and angry residents who trooped out in protests against the killing.

The protesters were seen destroying one of the sheds used by the policemen to control traffic at the popular Grammar School Bus Stop in the area, blocking the road in the process.

According to an eyewitness, some of the protesters have also taken advantage of the situation to loot nearby shops.

Police officers are, however, at the scene to arrest the situation, firing gunshots in the air to disperse the crowd.
