A man, Umar Hassan, has been shot dead at Agala Ogane polling unit in Anyigba, Kogi East Senatorial District.
According to PatinumPost, Hassan, who is 35 years old, was shot by some suspected thugs of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, as accused by supporters of the All Progressive Congress, APC.
Therefore, APC supporters in the polling unit and the ward in general have protested this senseless and gruesome killing and called on security agencies to do their thorough investigation.
The incident occurred during the governorship election in Kogi State, which was marred by reports of violence, intimidation, and ballot snatching.
The APC candidate, Usman Ododo, had earlier held a rally in Anyigba to seek support from the people of Kogi East Senatorial District.
However, there are reports of violence, intimidation, and ballot snatching in some parts of the state, which may affect the conduct and outcome of the election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has not announced any postponement or cancellation of the election as of now.
