INEC Probes Alleged Election Result Forgery in Kogi as YIAGA Africa Sounds Alarm

YIAGA Africa, a prominent civil society organization, has raised an alarm over what it alleges to be forged election results from Polling Unit 004, Eni Ward of Ogori/Mangogo in Kogi State.

The organization took to its Twitter handle, @YIAGA, on Saturday, exposing the alleged irregularities before the voting exercise concluded.

The questioned results said to be pre-filled, have ignited concerns regarding the integrity of the electoral process.

YIAGA Africa swiftly called upon the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to launch a thorough investigation into the matter, emphasizing the need to address the issue promptly.

“Dear @inecnigeria, we received a report of a pre-filled results sheet discovered in PU 004, Eni Ward of Ogori/Magongo in Kogi State before the commencement of voting. Kindly investigate and address this issue promptly to safeguard the integrity of the process,” read YIAGA Africa’s tweet”.

Responding to the serious allegations, INEC, via its official handle, acknowledged the situation and assured the public that its top officials had initiated an investigation into the matter.

The Commission emphasized the gravity of the situation and stated that it would communicate its decision earnestly.

“Our attention has been drawn to a report that filled result sheets were discovered in some polling units in Kogi State. The Commission views this situation seriously. Our senior officials deployed to the State are currently investigating the incident(s). The Commission will communicate its decision earnestly,” INEC declared on its official platform.
