A Labour Party (LP) agent, Calistus Ihejiagwa, was assaulted and ejected from the Collation Centre in Owerri by his fellow agents on Sunday morning, amid the declaration of the Imo state governorship election results.
According to PM News, Ihejiagwa had raised objections to the results, claiming that they were rigged and did not match the ones on the Result Viewing Portal (IReV).
He also wanted to submit a petition to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), but the Returning Officer, Prof Abayomi Fashina, refused to accept it.
His persistent complaints angered the other agents, who attacked him and threw him out of the centre around 5 am.
The collation resumed afterwards, with Governor Hope Uzodimma emerging victorious in all the local governments.
The LP candidate, Sen. Athan Achonu, had earlier call offed for the cancellation of some results over alleged irregularities, such as ballot box snatching, vote buying, and intimidation of voters.
He said he had written to INEC to demand action, but the Commission said it had not received any official report on the matter.
