By Just In: Former GMD Of NNPC, Maikanti Baru Dies Of…
The immediate past General Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr Maikanti Baru has died of an undisclosed ailment.
His death was moments ago confirmed by his successor, Melee Kyari who in a tweet disclosed that Dr Baru has passed on. He however didn’t disclose the cause of death nor where the late Engineer died.
His tweet reads, “My brother, my friend, and my mentor, Dr. Maikanti Kachalla Baru, immediate past GMD of NNPC died late last night. He was of exemplary character and disposition. May Allah forgive him and have mercy upon him.”
Dr Baru was the 18th GMD of NNPC, he was in office from July 2016 till 7th July, 2019 when he clocked 60, the mandatory retirement age in the nation’s Civil service. He previously served as the Group General Manager of National Petroleum Investment Management Services.
