The Federal Capital Territory High Court has granted a bail to the past Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.
During the court session on Wednesday, Justice Olukayode Adeniyi ordered that the embattled Emefiele should be released to his lawyers with immediate effect on the condition that he would be available in court when required.
It was learnt that the judge ordered Emefiele to deposit his passport and travel documents before the chief registrar of the court pending his arraignment.
In its note, the court observed that Emefiele had been detained for 151 days, adding that the Nigerian Government and the Attorney General of the Federation must obey the rule of law.
The substantive motion on notice as well as the preliminary objection, were adjourned to November 17 for hearing.
Recall that Emefiele was suspended by President Bola Tinubu on June 9 and subsequently arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS).
