President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated Mr. Muazu Jaji Sambo from Taraba State as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

This was made known at floor of the House when the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan read Buhari’s letter urging the Senate to screen and confirm the nominee for appointment at plenary on Tuesday morning.

Recall that the President in September for the first time sacked two ministers from his cabinet. The two cabinet members affected are Saleh Mamman, the Minister of Power; and Sabo Nanono, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.

If confirmed by the Senate, Sambo will replace Sale Mamman, who was relieved of his appointment.

Buhari asked the upper legislative chamber to confirm some nominees as Resident Electoral Commissioners (REC) and National Commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

They include Mohammed Haruna (national commissioner), May Agbamuche Mbu (national commissioner), Okeagu Kenneth Nnamdi (national commissioner) A.B. Alkali (national commissioner) and Rada H. Gumus (national commissioner).

Other nominees are Sam Olumeko (national commissioner) and Olaniyi Olaleye Ijalaye (REC).
