Air Vice Marshal Sikiru Smith (retd.), who was abducted on Monday in the Ajah area of Lagos State, has regained freedom.
It was gathered that the retired military officer was released by his abductors in the early hours of Saturday.
According to The PUNCH, the spokesman for the Police in Lagos State, Adekunle Ajisebutu, confirmed the development.
“I can confirm that he has been released,” he told the newspaper.
Recall BlackBox Nigeria had reported that Smith, who is the current chairman of a dredging and engineering firm called Double Wealth Ventures Limited, was on a supervisory visit to a site in the Ajah area of Lagos State on Monday, when masked gunmen invaded the place and shot sporadically.
The gunmen reportedly whisked the retired AVM away using a speedboat.
According to an SOS voice message shared by his driver, Corporal Odiji, Smith tried to fight off the men but was overpowered in the process.
