Residents of Majidun-Ogolonto in Ikorodu West, Ikorodu, Lagos, on Monday, received with loud cheers the lawmaker representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Babajimi Benson as he flagged off the construction of roads/drainage with street lights in the community.
The road will link Ajagunna junction, leading to Ayegbajeje street, that connects Majidun-Ogolonto to Lagos road.
The event had in attendance, the Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju; the Director-General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Toyin Gafaar Bolowotan; the Chairperson of Ijede LCDA, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba; local government chairmen, community leaders, CDC leaders, traditional leaders, top APC leaders in Ikorodu West, party stalwarts, among others.
Speaking at the event, Benson, who is also the Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, explained that the intervention was in fulfilment of the requests of the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA and the Director-General of iCare Foundation, Deen Sanwoola.
The lawmaker urged the traditional leaders of the beneficiary communities, Majidun Ilaje and Majidun-Ogolonto, as well as other community stakeholders to take ownership of the project and support its timely completion.
The Baale of Majidun-Ogolonto, Chief O.Y.O Fatola, who spoke on behalf of his community, appreciated Rep. Babajimi Benson for the intervention, describing him as a representative with a difference. This was followed the remarks of the Baale of Majidun Ilaje, Chief Alex Omoyele who also lauded the efforts of the lawmaker in delivering good representation to the people of Ikorodu.
Accompanied by dignitaries present, Rep. Babajimi Benson also inspected the length of the road project.
