Jimi Benson, Wife Hold APC Women’s Appreciation Day In Lagos

House of Representatives member, Hon Babajimi Adegoke Benson and his wife, Mrs Olajumoke Benson on Saturday hosted Lagos women in politics in a programme tagged, APC Women’s Appreciation Day.

The event which was organised by the iCare Foundation was held at Regal Hall in Olo-Odo area of Ikorodu, Lagos State.

The event had in attendance, Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Oluranti Adebule, First Lady of Lagos, Mrs Bolanle Ambode, among other top women in Lagos APC.

Notable figures like former Senator Ganiu O Solomon and other invited guests also graced the occasion.

In her speech, Mrs Olajumoke Benson extended her gratitude to all the women who have been contributing to the success of the party in Lagos, especially in Ikorodu division.

She said the event was organised to celebrate and appreciate their efforts in ensuring victory for the party in the last election and also in the development of the party in their respective divisions.

She reiterated the commitments of her husband, Hon Jimi Benson to stay on track in fulfilling all his campaign promises as the iCare Membership cards shared during the election period continues to be their guide in delivering their promises.

In his speech, Hon Benson was all grateful to the Great women, who are indeed bedrock of the nation.

He also appreciated the commitment of the State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode for his compassion towards the development of women in the State.

He said the women have been fully involved in genuine projects such as the Light Up Lagos, Employment Trust Fund, revamping the Security agencies, launch of the Lagos-Kebbi Rice (LAKE RICE); all these he said mitigated impact of economic recession which had direct impact on women and Lagosians in general.

He also praised the Hope For Women in Nigeria Initiatives (HOFOWEN), a pet project of the First Lady, Mrs Bolanle Ambode. He noted that the scheme has been concerned about equipping women for excellence.

He disclosed that the Initiative also recently distributed writing materials, school bags, shoes and socks to pupils in public school across the State.

He also praised the HOFOWEN for its participation in mobilising women to eliminate Female Genital Mutilation.

He further highlighted the part of iCare Foundation in prioritising women with good number of activities that have since created ample opportunities for women to excel in their respective communities.

He concluded that the general development of Lagos State was important and the duty of all in the State.
