The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a warning to candidates to be cautious of a fake Instagram account impersonating the Board’s official social media account. The account, named “jambutmepage”, is attempting to defraud unsuspecting candidates.

In a statement released by JAMB, the Board advised candidates to avoid interacting with the fraudulent account and to refrain from sharing personal information or making any payments to the scammers.

“Attention Dear Candidates! Kindly be aware that the Instagram account: jambutmepage, is a roguish account impersonating the genuine Board’s social media account to defraud gullible candidates. You are, therefore, advised to steer clear of the platform and others of its kind.”

The Board reiterated that its official Instagram account is @jamb_hq, and any other account claiming to represent JAMB is fraudulent.

“The JAMB official Instagram account is jamb_hq, hence, any other account appropriating JAMB’s name, logo, and website, is fraudulent.”

Candidates are advised to only rely on information from the official JAMB website and social media accounts to avoid falling victim to scams.

JAMB urged candidates to report any suspicious activity or accounts to the Board’s official channels, to help prevent the spread of fraudulent activities.

The Board’s warning comes as a precautionary measure to protect candidates from falling prey to scams and fraudulent activities. Candidates are advised to be vigilant and to always verify the authenticity of information before taking any action.
