JAMB: Reps Member Urges Candidates ‎ To Shun Malpractices

Member of House of Representatives, Hon. Abdulraheem Olajide Jimoh representing Lagos Mainland ‎constituency has disclosed that adequate preparation coupled with prayers bring about success in an examinations, he urges candidates preparing for 2017 Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to shun malpractices.

The lawmaker said this in Lagos during a 1-day JAMB seminar for students organised by his fellow lawmaker in the Green Chambers, Hon. Nurudeen Olaitan Akinwunmi representing Ifako/Ijaiye constituency.

According to him, there is no need for students  writing examinations‎ for two times or thrice if there is adequate preparation. He noted that there is also need for elected officials to prepare students (respective constituents) which his colleague has done.

‎He therefore advised candidates that are preparing to write 2017 JAMB to shun any form of examination malpractices and be committed to what they are doing, adding that it would make them to be great leaders in future.

In his speech, Hon. Akinwunmi opined that passing a qualifying examination requires more than being brilliant. “Being sound in the combination of subjects on which questions are to be set may not necessarily translate to be admitted. There are so many issues involved.

“There are millions of brilliant candidates out there who have sat for JAMB two or three times and have not gotten admission. If you are ignorant on the new policy of JAMB, you are more or less an uneducated student, he said.

Speaking on why he organised the seminar, Hon. Akinwunmi stressed that the ultimate goal is to ensure that most candidates in his constituent pass this year’s JAMB.

“My belief is that while most parents can afford the cost of JAMB form, most parents, cannot afford to teach what you have been taught in this seminar”, he said.
