A drug lord who used a mansion in Victoria Garden City (VGC) estate, Lekki, Lagos, to produce methamphetamine has lost the property to the Federal Government.

According to Vanguard, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said the mansion, worth millions of naira, was forfeited after the drug lord, Okenwa Chris Nzewi, was convicted and jailed for drug offences.

The NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, also said Nzewi and his associate, Sunny Okeh Ukah, were arrested on 30th July 2022 and charged with four counts of drug-related crimes at the Federal High Court, Lagos.

They pleaded guilty on 17th July, 2023 and were sentenced to four and three years imprisonment respectively, with an option of paying fines of four million (N4,000,000) naira and three million (N3,000,000) naira each.

They were also ordered to do community service for four and three weeks respectively.

Babafemi said the NDLEA also seized Nzewi’s vehicle with registration number EKY 496 DJ and filed a civil forfeiture case against the mansion used as a clandestine laboratory.

The court granted an interim forfeiture order on 6th December and a final forfeiture order on 7th December 2023, effectively stripping Nzewi of his ill-gotten assets
