The Executive Chairman of Ijede Local Council Development Area, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, has felicitated with youths on the occasion of the International Youth Day 2021.
In a statement personally signed by her, Gbadebo-Alogba extolled the virtues of the Nigerian youths, describing them as the nation’s “greatest resources”.
According to her, youths are rare gifts to every nation, with an important role to renew, refresh and maintain their immediate society.
Speaking on the theme of this year’s commemoration, she stressed the need for young people to make meaningful contributions towards solving global issues relating to food security.
“The theme of this year’s commemoration; “TRANSFORMING FOOD SYSTEMS: Youth Innovation For Human And Planetary Health” is significant in light of the seeming challenges the world faces in attaining food security,” she said.
“As young people, we have a huge responsibility to direct our ideas, innovations, and technical know-how towards addressing food production, and environmental sustainability. The vigour and spirit that we embody as young minds will play a crucial role in the quest to end global hunger.
“Empowering youths to make meaningful contributions to society is the hallmark of any responsive government. Our administration in Ijede LCDA realized this, and we initiated the Motunrayo Advancement Policy (MAP) which aims to encourage and empower youths who are willing to venture into agribusiness with relevant innovative skills and support to ensure seamless participation.
“While I urge youths of Ijede LCDA to be active participants in societal transformation, I wish to reiterate the commitment of our administration to their social and economic growth. We will ensure that every opportunity for young people to thrive is made available.”
